Breeding queen bees with JAEGER Incubator

Zucht von Bienenköniginnen

The aim of beekeeping is to produce the most gentle and efficient bee colonies possible. In addition to the performance characteristics, the selection process also focuses on resistance to diseases, especially varroa tolerance.

To meet these requirements we offer a wide range of high quality beekeeping equipment and accessories at top conditions.

FOR THE SUSTAINABLE BREEDING OF QUEEN BEES WITH JAEGER INCUBATOR, THE FOLLOWING MUST BE OBSERVED:

  • An operating temperature of 35°C (+/- 1°C) must be maintained
  • At low over temperature: slightly lighter body coloration of the queens
  • With overtemperature above 37°C a high mortality rate can be assumed
  • Slight under-temperature: Slip is delayed, deviation in the size of the body appendages, crippled wings and mandibles
  • Undertemperature below 33°C: queens become inactive, get stuck
  • Relative humidity : 50%-70% optimal
  • ATTENTION: With the relative humidity not below 40% even
  • Place the JAEGER Incubator approx. two days before the insertion of the Weisel cells and set the desired temperature (35°C)

BROOD AND HATCH:

  • Should the queens hatch in the JAEGER Incubator, a drop of liquid honey must be added to the hatching cages otherwise on the 11th day after the larvae give the slippery queen cells into the offshoots
  • Carefully place freshly capped queen cells in the hatching cage in the JAEGER Incubator
  • Check twice on the day of hatching, replace lining if necessary, as it may have become too soft or too firm
  • After hatching, remove the empty cells, because there is a risk that the queens will crawl back into the cells
  • If the queens hatch only two to three days after the date, they are to be sorted out
  • Bring queens immediately after hatching to mating colonies or temporarily to the honey room of bee colonies for care

FOR SUCCESSFUL BREEDING WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT AND METHODS:

  • Use Moist Brood-Set and insert Hygrometer
  • The relative humidity can be influenced by changing the evaporation surface
  • Please use incubation containers with substrate filling to protect the JAEGER Incubator so that it can fulfill its tasks as long as possible
  • You can find suitable incubators containers with and without filling in our Internet store
